Don't Fall For It

You are likely aware of the conviction of Paul Manafort, briefly President Trump's campaign manager, on a bunch of tax evasion charges and the plea bargain of Michael Cohen, one of the President's lawyers, on tax evasion charges and campaign finance violations.

The usual suspects are braying as loudly as ever that this spells the end of Trump. Finally.

We are all familiar with the common human trait of seeing what we want to see. That argument can cut two ways, except when it does not.

What does Manafort's conviction on 8 counts of tax evasion that took place years before the election have to do President Trump? Nothing.

What does Michael Cohen's plea bargain on tax evasion and campaign finance violations have to do with President Trump? Nothing.

If there was any evidence that the President was involved in the campaign finance violations we would long since have known it.

The press somehow makes a "crime" out of Cohen's paying hush money to alleged sex partners of the President. Sorry folks. That is not a crime. Not only is it not a crime, the trysts, if they occurred, like Cohen's and Manafort's other crimes, all predate the President's election.

Now we are told that the president of National Enquirer (a fellow by the unfortunate name of Pecker) has been granted immunity by the special prosecutor. We do not know what crime(s) he is being immunized from. We are told, however, that he "sat on" stories that might have been detrimental to President Trump during and after the campaign.

If that is a crime NBC should be prosecuted for "spiking" (a term of art in journalism that means precisely the same thing as "sat on" but is less pejorative and is routinely used to describe NBC's actions at the time) the Monica Lewinsky/Bill Clinton story during his Presidency. By the way, it was the breaking of that story that fueled the behemoth scourge of liberals, The Drudge Report.

Could it be that Pecker was attempting to extort the President? I doubt it, but who knows.

My point is that as cacophonous as the noise is at the moment, we have been here before.

Do not allow the left to win the day through insisting that nothing is something. Do not allow yourself to be intimidated by all the screeching. Our President is their equal and then some, as he has proven time and time again.

If he ever gets fed up enough to quit, which I doubt, we are left with the very comforting prospect of President Mike Pence!

Be of good cheer my friends. The louder the left screams the more determined to resist we must become.
